My wife and I are expecting our 2nd child. January 5th we went in for our sonogram to determine the gender. We found out we were having a boy. Then we heard the words the strike fear into the heart of every parent (or prospective parent)..."We see something". After a dizzying and frightening array of new medical terms and doctors appointments we found our our son has Spina Bifida. He has low lesion (S-2 of the Sacrum) with a Chiari II malformation. We does have swelling in the ventricles of his brain, but not yet to the point of being considered a hydrocephalus.
My intent of this blog is to share our story and hopefully build this site as a potential resource for those who find there families in a similar situation. I plan to find other "like-minded" blogs and list sites, doctors, etc. who are great resources. For us this has already been a journey/battle and anything we can do to help others will be worth it.
